This course introduces you to current medical billing and reimbursement best practices in multiple health care settings, for various types of insurance. It’s certified by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), the industry’s most trusted training credential. The flexible virtual format accommodates your busy schedule, while encouraging maximum participation to reinforce key concepts. Available to OCHIN members and non-members.

  • Achieve a better understanding of medical reimbursement functions
  • Understand differences in reimbursement methodologies according to the three main medical codebooks: CPT®, ICD-10-CM Code Set, and HCPCS Level II
  • Become adept at proper claim form preparation, submission, processing, and follow-up
  • Upon course completion, you will be eligible to sit for the Certified Professional Biller (CPB) exam through the AAPC. Two exam attempts are included.

This course is ideal for individuals new to health care, as well as current industry professionals seeking to specialize and become certified. It helps equip students for a rewarding medical billing career in a physician’s office, clinic, or similar setting. It also prepares participants to attain industry-recognized Certified Professional Biller (CPB) status from the AAPC.
